Common Success

COMMON SUCCESS

Finger in your nose, snot on the sleeve,
Spills on the trousers nobody seen.
Copied the homework, shuffled the cards,
Flipped the chessboard and scratched the cars.
Punched the street kid, spat on the cat,
Littered the sidewalks and crossed a red.
Gossiped for favors, spread the lies,
Spiked their coffee so your work could shine.
Invite the girls, drown them in wine,
Bring them home and tell them goodbye.
Fish for money, gamble the fortune,
Strike the number and buy some to try.
Sleight of the hand, keep the cash,
Pass the bag and down your chest.
Point your guns, rob the gems,
Fill your sacks and burn the crest.
Chase the weak, show your might,
Make them feel you and them their fright.
Wield your weapons, pierce it through
The body of your hatred now considered rude.
All of life, never caught,
Hand some notes and smile to the cops.
All of life, never warned,
But night awaits, yes it calls.
On the bed, breathing through tubes,
Glancing to see if family is true.
The sin is too great, nothing but air
And machine dared to stay.
The time is coming, you closed your eyes,
Breathing loudly, you reached out to the skies.

Asking for help, anyone would do,
Even the god science has disproved.
“Give me a few more days,” the dying man struggled
As he laid into the longest night he had ever had.
